Google’s John Mueller reiterated one thing he stated earlier than, he stated on Twitter “there is no such thing as a goal approach to rely hyperlinks.” He stated this in 2019 when he stated, “counting hyperlinks on the internet accurately is technically inconceivable, and everybody simply makes completely different approximations & assumptions.”
John later added saying, “do not concentrate on the variety of hyperlinks any specific software reveals — there is no such thing as a “appropriate” approach to rely hyperlinks, interpretations range wildly.” “Consider hyperlinks as a manner that folks can attain your website, not as a metric of its personal. The variety of hyperlinks any software reveals shouldn’t be a rating issue,” he added.
Right here is that new tweet the place he stated this:

The late Russ Jones in 2019 echoed John’s assertion and for those who keep in mind, Russ ran quite a lot of Moz’s instruments round counting hyperlinks (I’m simplifying plying what he did).
